Q: Author E: Kam Ying Elizabeth
Q1: Hello, Elizabeth. Could you briefly introduce your current job? (Location, position, responsibilities)
E: Hello everyone, I'm Kam Ying Elizabeth, a 2024 graduate of the Lok Mo IVTC. I was first introduced by the center to do an internship at the social enterprise "The Edible Project (TEP)," and after that, I successfully became a full-time employee at Rosewood Hong Kong. I work as a waitress at an Italian restaurant called Blu-house inside the Rosewood Hotel. I'm responsible for various tasks, including reheating pizzas, making coffee, serving food to customers, and assisting various kitchen cleaning duties.
Q2: Could you share some memorable or fulfilling experiences you've had at work?
E: At the Rosewood Hotel, there are various training opportunities. Besides working at Blu-house, I also had the chance to experience working at the hotel's Spanish restaurant, Bayfare Social. The environment, the size of the coffee cups, and the taste of the coffee there were quite different from Blu-house. However, I was still able to showcase my coffee-making skills, using their coffee machine to create different latte art shapes like hearts, swans, and roses. My colleagues even praised my coffee-making skills, saying I was "quite a hand" at it!
Also, the hotel might have known that I like art and design, so they invited me to participate in some of the restaurant's design work. Some of the menus and two murals (Blu-wall) in the restaurant were designed by me!

Q3: What growth or changes have you seen in yourself since you started your job?
E: I have been working at Rosewood Bluhouse for almost a year now. I used to find it difficult to express myself, but many kind colleagues have always reminded me and accompanied me through many things. I feel that my confidence has grown a lot, and I am now confident enough in expressing my own thoughts!
Q4: Finally, Kam Ying, do you have any words for your "Lok Mo" juniors?
E: No matter where you work, I hope you are confident and proactive. Most importantly, you must have a "fire" in your heart and not be afraid of making mistakes. I wish you all encounter different opportunities to showcase your talents in the future. Keep up with your hard trainings!
